Playgroups and parent groups in Hervey Bay

Playgroups are often the first local search after a baby arrives or a family moves. The key information is not the group name; it is the child’s age, weekday, term status, cost, booking, venue and whether the program has eligibility criteria.

Play With Your Kids

Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre — Play With Your Kids publishes facilitated playgroup and family-support activities from birth to Prep, with some activities extending to age eight.

The provider describes the program as free and lists Hervey Bay Community Centre and mobile locations. A mobile program may not be at the same venue every week.

Before attending, check:

• the current day and time;
• exact location for that session;
• whether booking or referral is required;
• age for the activity;
• school-term or holiday status;
• what to bring.

Bub Hub

Bub Hub is a Neighbourhood Centre playgroup/support program for babies and young parents. Eligibility is part of the program; it should not be described as a generic all-parent drop-in.

Library early-years sessions

Fraser Coast Libraries — Hervey Bay publishes:

• Rattle & Rhyme for younger children;
• Storytime for under-fives;
• other children/family events with event-specific ages.

Check the individual event for free status, booking and location. The new Fraser Coast Library is planned to open on 31 August 2026, so operating-location checks matter during the transition.

Library sessions are activities, not parent-support groups. They are included because families search for both under the same “what can I do with a baby this week?” intent.

Mainly Music research lead

A current official Facebook group for Mainly Music Hervey Bay/Salvos described music and movement for ages 0–5 and a $3 session including morning tea. The accessible source did not clearly publish the current Hervey Bay venue and session needed for a reliable directory page.

It is therefore not published as a current listing. Once venue, day/time and contact are confirmed on the provider’s own page, it can be added with a new checked date.

Preschool age

Storytime, Play With Your Kids and provider classes can work, but check the upper age and whether school-term attendance is expected.

Open group versus support program
