Things to do in Hervey Bay for teens

If you are the teen reading this: you do not have to pretend a toddler playground is exciting. The current Hervey Bay options that hold up for roughly ages 10–17 are skating, arcades and laser tag, bowling, cinema, kayaking, fishing, martial arts, art, theatre and real club sport.

Everything here links to a provider or council source checked in July 2026. Prices, sessions and age rules can change. Pick two options, check the source, then ask the adult handling transport or payment.

Skate, scooter and BMX

Hervey Bay Pump Track

The Hervey Bay Pump Track is a free council facility at Fraser Coast Park beside PCYC. Council describes beginner and advanced sections for skateboards, scooters and BMX.

Check current facility notices and conditions. This page does not tell you what protective equipment to use or claim a section matches your ability; follow council signs and your own sport guidance.

SkateSide

SkateSide Skate Park is in the Pialba youth precinct. Council sources verify the public facility, but the record used here does not publish a minimum age or a detailed obstacle list.

Craignish BMX track

Craignish Park BMX Track combines a council BMX track with basketball, walking paths and an adjacent playground. It is in Craignish rather than central Hervey Bay. Council lists shade cover, toilets and barbecue facilities. Playground fencing is not stated; the fence belongs to the dog-park area.

Arcades, laser tag and bowling

Timezone Hervey Bay publishes more than 80 arcade games, laser tag, VR and a chill-out area. Package and game-card costs are current-page decisions, not an evergreen price.

Game On Bowling is the verified ten-pin bowling venue. The source checked does not publish a complete price or age rule. Ask about lane availability, shoe hire, group size and booking.

No current standalone indoor climbing provider cleared the local source rules. It is recorded as a gap, not padded with an out-of-town listing.

Films without the little-kid framing

Bigscreen Cinemas and Boat Club Cinema both publish current sessions. Pick a film from the live schedule and check classification.

The Boat Club site says most films are $10–$14, with some sessions from $8.50; special events can cost more. It operates inside a licensed club venue, so the adult should check current entry conditions.

Kayak and water options

Aquavue Kayak Hire publishes single and tandem kayak hire, life jackets and an instruction run-through from its Torquay beachfront location. The provider says all ages, but it does not publish a specific rule for unaccompanied minors. Ask before making a plan without an adult on the water.

WetSide Aqua Ninja and slides can work for younger teens when it is open. Council’s under-12 accompaniment rule and any activity-specific limits apply. Entry and Aqua Ninja are free; large slides were $8 for 10 rides in July 2026. WetSide closes for winter maintenance.

Hervey Bay Surf Life Saving Club publishes a pathway from Nippers into cadets. Cadet ages and award requirements are provider rules; it is an organised season, not a casual surf lesson.

Fishing

Guided Fishing Downunder advertises Fraser Coast fishing experiences tailored to children’s age and experience. The public page does not give a complete minimum/maximum age or current package price, so ask.

Smarter Fishing Charters — Princess II publishes a full-day reef charter with child pricing for ages 3–12 and adult-category pricing for teens. At the July check it listed $250 adult, $200 child 3–12 and $200 non-fishing passenger, subject to change.

Check duration, meeting point, what is supplied, food, weather/cancellation terms and the operator’s current minor requirements.

Martial arts and training

Rise Training Centre youth programs publish Youth Muay Thai for 11–14 and kids BJJ/wrestling for 7–14.

Maromba BJJ publishes juniors 8–14. The current address, timetable and teen-to-adult transition need direct confirmation.

For older teens beyond a provider’s youth bracket, ask the provider what class and consent rules apply. Do not assume that an adult class accepts an unaccompanied minor.

Art, music, drawing and theatre

The council publishes:

• Art Club Teens for ages 10–17, with term-specific price and booking;
• Teen Zine for ages 13–19, free when the current event says so;
• Manga/Anime Hervey Bay for teens and young adults to 25, event-date dependent.

Evie’s Music Lessons appears in council’s creative directory, but age intake and current fees are not published. Z-PAC Theatre has community productions, auditions and volunteering; youth opportunity is production-specific.

Organised sport

The junior sport directory covers basketball to Under 19, netball representative age groups, football codes, hockey, tennis, swimming, surf life saving and more. Use the sign-on calendar before deadlines.
